Chinese Government Grants Intel's First 12-inch Chip Plant in Dalian

China's NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) announced on March 13 that the Chinese government has conceded Intel's US$2.5 billion proposal to construct its first 12-inch chip fab in the Dalian Economic & Technological Development Zone of China. This new facility, initially based on 90nm technology, is expected to churn out a monthly capacity of 52,000 units.
